GACE Preparation: English/Language Arts On-Line 5 PLUs
This course will provide an overview of the objectives taught in English/Language Arts courses PK-12 including: development of written language, recent relevant research information, literature to be covered, authors to be studied, comprehension and writing development. It is designed for teachers who are preparing to take the GACE course for English/Language Arts PK-12. FEE: $400 (5 PLUs)

GACE Preparation: Mathematics On-Line 5 PLUs
This course will provide an overview of the mathematics curriculum objectives that all Georgia mathematics teachers must employ to students and that will be addressed on the GACE test. It will also include best practices, strategies, and assessment tools that are considered exemplary for Mathematics teachers.This is a preparation course for taking the test and not the test itself. FEE: $400 (5 PLUs)

 

AN INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACH TO FIELD TRIPS (RBSOL2)
This course is truly experiential. Each week you will go on excursions to places that represent good field trip experiences for students. Sites will be chosen for their enhancement of an interdisciplinary approach to education and for their appropriateness for all grade levels. FEE: $400 (5 PLUs)

DESKTOP PUBLISHING - TURNING ON CREATIVE PRODUCTIVITY (RBSOL3)
The use of Desktop Publishing allows you to take control of your computer workspace and lets your printed output show who you are. This course is designed for the teacher of all grades and is taught through a series of lesson plans and projects that can be easily customized for one's own classroom use. Projects include creating customized business cards, school calendars, flyers, newsletters, and brochures. Through these instructions and projects, the user will become familiar with Desktop Publishing. FEE: $400 (5 PLUs)

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF GRANT WRITING ON-LINE (RBSOL4)
Participants will obtain first hand knowledge of the various steps necessary to develop a grant for submission. They will learn how to research federal, state, local, public, and private programs for possible grant sources. They will write and develop a proposal for funding. FEE: $400 (5 PLUs)

OFFICE 97/2000/2003/2007 - PRODUCTIVITY IN THE CLASSROOM (RBSOL5)
The use of a computer to increase your productivity has become extremely important as more demands are added to your work schedule each year. "Word" will help you automate letters to your students' parents while at the same time help professionalize all written documents by reducing spelling and grammatical errors. "Excel" helps track various grades and projects that are an integral part of the education professions. "PowerPoint" makes interesting presentations that can be edited easily for reuse. True Colors is a learning styles program that in particular matches the teacher's teaching styles with the students' learning styles through self-analysis and observation. The program focuses on how all elements influence motivation, discipline, and the learning environment. FEE: $400 (5 PLUs)

HOUSE BILL 671: IDENTIFICATION AND EDUCATION OF EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN AND YOUTH (RBSOL7)
This course is designed to facilitate the identification of curriculum modification and instruction for exceptional children. It meets the requirements of House Bill 671. Course content enhances the general educator's resources leading to quality, individualized instruction. FEE: $400 (5 PLUs)

THE TEACHING OF READING (RBSOL8)
Course participants will have a comprehensive overview of the reading process. Instructional techniques to diagnostically evaluate and instruct the individual learners will be developed based on an investigation of the factors influencing the reading-learning process. Specific attention will be given to the linguistic and psychological foundations for reading instruction, developing comprehension and vocabulary skills, and the role of reading in the content areas. Discusses the physical, emotional and academic needs of our students in the middle grades. The middle school student is a unique entity with issues that arise emotionally, physically, and academically all at once. Many individuals struggle with assignments and studying for tests because they lack effective Study Skills. Using SOAR and other study skills techniques this course helps students discover great ways to save time by studying effectively rather than ineffectively. FEE: $400 (5 PLUs)
